Half Birthday

November 30th, 2008

Today is Sophia’s half birthday, she is officially 6 months old!  It is hard to believe she has been part of our lives for 6 months.  In some ways it feels like she has been with us forever, I cannot imagine my life without her beautiful, smiling face.  She is growing up so fast and seems to be changing on almost a daily basis.  While I really miss that tiny baby in my arms, I am very much enjoying the developing girl before me and am looking forward to the coming months and years of joy with her!  Here’s to our amazing little girl…Happy Half Birthday and MANY more to come!

Thankfulness

November 27th, 2008

This Thanksgiving I cannot express how thankful I am for having everything I ever dreamed of.  I always dreamed of having a family, now I have a kind and loving husband and the new addition of our beautiful daughter.  To top it all off I have a successful career, which I readily gave up temporarily to raise my beautiful daughter!  It is amazing to think all my dreams have finally come true.  I can’t ever imagine my life without John or Sophie, we are a new family, the kind I always dreamed of.

Now it is time to build new dreams.  Dreams of my daughters successes and happiness, hopes for another amazing little Keiser baby and thoughts of all the new adventures we will have over the years as a family.  I am thankful I have the opportunity to build new dreams and that I have wonderful people by my side to share it all with!

Exploration

November 26th, 2008

Sophie and Mommy spent an hour and a half today crawling and exploring the house.  She had already been able to crawl around the family room but today she ventured out of the room into the kitchen, dining room and hallway with Mommy crawling right behind her!  She really enjoyed crawling up to things like the cabinets, doors and refrigerator and touching them with her left hand.  She is discovering things so quickly and seems to analyze all that she sees, she is such an amazing girl!

Bananas

November 26th, 2008

Sophie tried bananas for the first time today.  She LOVED them!!  She actually cried whe we got done with the portion and was reaching for the bowl!

Hurting

November 26th, 2008

So when is it exactly that she will be able to tell us what is wrong??  She has been crying nonstop every night for the past 3 night when we try to put her down to sleep, now this is a baby that has been pretty much a perfect sleeper since getting over her colic at 2 1/2 months old.  She has been inconsolable at night the past 3 nights so we figured it was a developmental change coinciding with either the crawling or the new tooth. So trying to be good parents we built in a better bedtime routine and tried not to let her cry too much while still allowing her to fall asleep on her own.

Well this morning the crying continued, she couldn’t get to sleep at nap time for anything.  We tried everything to soothe her and nothing was working so I called the doctor who is always wonderful and got us in half an hour later.  It turns out that she has her first little ear infection in her left ear!  Poor little thing has been having issues with being laid down flat because the pressure it is putting on her little infected ear drum!!

Had there been any other symptoms; pulling at her ear, a temperature or anything else I would have had her to the doctor 3 days ago!  But instead we allowed our little one to scream at night with assumptions, allowed ourselves to think our perfect little sleeper had suddenly become a little monster at bedtime and that we were loosing our parenting battle already!

I reiterate, when can she start telling us she is hurting??!!  Because at this point I plan to call the doctor for everything!!  I don’t ever want my little girl to be in pain for 3 days without me doing something about it!!

As my husband would say, “this parenting thing is hard!”

Tooth time!

November 25th, 2008

Sophie’s first tooth broke through the gum today!  I could feel it down on the bottom right, that is one sharp little baby tooth!

Avacados

November 24th, 2008

Sophie tried avacado today, she was not too thrilled about them.  She gagged on the second bite after giving me a face on the first!!  I have the same reaction to avacados but they are so healthy for her we will just have to try again in a month or so.

First tooth!

November 21st, 2008

Along with crawling Sophie also got her first tooth today!!  It has not broken through the gum yet but you can see the little white/grey line on the bottom right!  So many changes in one day!!

Crawling!!!!!

November 21st, 2008

It has been an eventful day!!  Sophie started crawling today!!  She started out this morning with a crawl or two and ended up this evening doing sets of five or six crawls then back on her belly and then back up again to crawl!  She has not quite figured out that she can continue crawling and get places way faster then her inchworm crawl.  When she figures this out we are in for trouble!!  We are SO proud!!

It looks like Grandma Keiser had the closest guess for when Sophie would start crawling with a guess of November 20th!  Only one day off!

Sweet potatoes

November 19th, 2008

Sophie tried sweet potatoes for the first time today!  She LOVED her sweet potatoes, they are a definate winner!  I made it up fresh, put it in the microwave for 6 minutes and then in the food processor.  One sweet potato made 9 baby sized servings.
